Welcome to the fifth issue of the 3D-Icons newsletter!

Video of an Etruscan tomb in Umbria  - the Visual Computing Laboratory of ISTI-CNR, in collaboration with the National Archaeological Museum in Perugia, presents a video  describing an underground Etruscan Tomb, now destroyed, located in the hills of Umbria.

New blog: Visualisation of the Benedictine abbey at Ename - 3D ICONS partner Visual Dimension has started a blog  about its work on the virtual reconstruction of the Benedictine abbey at Ename.

Workshop: Exploring the 3D-Icons Project - The 3D-ICONS project organised the wrokshop “Exploring the 3D-Icons Projec t" on Thursday October 31, 2013.  The workshop was hosted at the Digital heritage International Congress 2013 in the spectacular surroundings of the newly built Museum of Civilisations from Europe and the Mediterranean (MuCEM) in Marseille, France.

El Argar in 3D  - The Royal Museums of Art and History, Brussels (KMKG), are contributing to 3D Icons 450 high resolution models of pottery originating from the south East of Spain. In this article  a glimpse on the background of the collection and how and why it is selected and processed.

Work in Progress:

IPR workshop in Berlin - The 3D-ICONS Project was invited to talk about their experience with IPR for 3D Models at an IPR works hop  jointly organised by the IANUS and DARIAH-DE projects in Berlin and hosted by the German Archaeological Institute in September 2013.

3D Icons at Digital Heritage 2013, Marseilles
 The 3D-ICONS project organised the “Exploring the 3D-Icons Project " on Thursday October 31, 2013.  The workshop was hosted at the Digital heritage International Congress 2013 in the spectacular surroundings of the newly built Museum of Civilisations from Europe and the Mediterranean (MuCEM) in Marseille, France.

Metadata workshop in Marseille - 3D-Icons organised a second metadata workshop  during the Digital Heritage 2013 Conference at the end of October in Marseilles. This workshop has been designed to make the creation and editing of metadata records conforming to the CARARE2 schema as straightforward and efficient as possible by using templates and reusable data.
